My Mom's Birthday

Today is a very special day.

It's the day before the 4th of July.

It's also my mom's birthday.

I won't say how old she turns today, I know better than that, but I will say that I am very glad that she was born all those years ago.

Even though our family has gone through some hard stuff, my mom has managed to somehow keep us afloat, and somehow managed to always keep smiling about it.

When my parents got married, they were both still very young, so she kind of had to learn on the job, so to speak. Even though she has made some mistakes, over all, I would have to say she has done a pretty good job at being a wife and mother (I can't speak so much for the wife part though, I'm not married to her, but I do know that she is a pretty great mom).

Even though we don't always see eye to eye on everything, for the most part Mom has had a pretty good relationship with me and my sister. Unlike most families, she didn't just turn us loose when we turned 13, she still was there, helping us choose right from wrong. Now that I'm 17 and I'm making a lot of my own decisions, I still ask my mom for her advise on a lot of things.

Something else that I appreciate about my mom is how she isn't that awkward mom who doesn't know any of our friends. Sometimes she might not know our friends very well, but the friends that we are closest too, she always befriends as well. I don't know how many of my friends have told me that I have a cool mom.

I also don't know how many friends say they love my mom's hair.

Being able to be silly is something that some people can't do. That's never been a problem for my mom. She has this silliness thing down to an art. I guess that's where me and my sister got it. Laughter is something that we are never short of in this house.

"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."-Proverbs 31:29

I'm so glad that my mom decided to follow God's calling to stay at home and raise my sister and I.

Mom, I love you, and Happy Birthday!!

Cheers!
